The WA SS22 Association
The Spacesailer 22 Association of Western Australia (Inc) was formed in 1985 as a non profit organisation.
The objectives of the Association are :-
- To encourage and promote Spacesailer 22 Class racing under uniform rules in Western Australia
- The organisation of championship and other events, and to act as liason with other yachting organisations in Western Australia and to promote social interaction between members.
To ensure that all racing takes place under the current rules of the International Yacht Racing Federation and the prescriptions of the Australian Yachting Association (Yachting Australia), the special regulation of the Yachting Authorities of the States of the Commonwealth of Australia and the Rules of the SS22 association.
Association members are drawn from most of the yacht clubs on the Swan River and membership is open to anyone interested in the Spacesailer 22 Class yacht.
The affairs of the Association are managed by an elected committee of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Measurer, Handicapper and up to one General Committee Member.
Typically 8 State Heats are scheduled each Summer season and these heats are hosted by various yacht clubs on the Swan River.
At the end of the season an overall State Champion is declared with 2nd and 3rd places. In addition, as the races are handicap races as well as “Over The Line”, a Consistency winner is declared with 2nd and 3rd places. The relevant trophies and awards are made at the Association annual prize night.
